There are many truly amazing physical
aspects to Gold.
Gold is the most malleable metal on Earth.
A single ounce can be worked into a sheet of metal
covering 100 square feet and only five millionths
of an inch thick. (1000 sheets would be required
to match the thickness of a single piece of paper!)
One ounce of Gold can be drawn into a wire 50 miles
long.
An ounce of Gold can plate a thread of copper 1000
miles long.
One cubic foot of Gold weighs more than half a
ton.
History shows that the total amount of gold ever
mined is only 120,000 tons. Put into perspective,
all 120,000 tons of gold would fit into a cube the
size of a 5 story building.
The worlds Gold mines produce a mere 2000 tons
per year. (By contrast, in 1995 the US Steel industry
produced 10,500 tons of steel per hour, 24 hours
a day, and 365 days a year.)
